July 22nd, 2026 ESPRIT Project Steering Committee
On July 22nd, the Steering Committee of the ESPRIT project was held at the headquarters of the Piedmont Region, with the participation of the City of Torino. The meeting provided an opportunity to share progress on the project activities and to define the next actions aimed at strengthening territorial governance and public employment services in the departments of Louga and Thiès, Senegal, with particular attention to the labour market inclusion of young people and women.

The series of online seminars promoted by the City of Torino and the University of Torino as part of the project “Akli Baladi – Local Food Policies for Italian and Palestinian Cities” has come to an end. The final two webinars focused on the topics “Food Education and School Meal Programmes” and “Food Awareness and Gastronomic Heritage: Developing Food and Wine Tourism.”

Jacopo Suppo, Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan City of Turin, participated on behalf of the Mayor in the “Dialogue @AECD 2027” panel, organized by the Arab European Cities Dialogue and hosted by the Arab Urban Development Institute. The event focused on cooperation between Arab and European cities, highlighting successful partnership experiences and emphasizing city diplomacy, knowledge exchange and sustainable development.

Mayor Stefano Lo Russo led a joint mission to Qatar involving the City of Torino, Politecnico di Torino and the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, aimed at strengthening relations in the fields of culture, research, innovation and urban development. Meetings with Qatar Museums and local institutions opened new opportunities for cultural and academic cooperation. The mission also strengthened the partnership between Politecnico di Torino and Hamad Bin Khalifa University through new joint academic programmes. Furthermore, the mission promoted Turin’s model as an international example of integration between culture, technology, research, and social development.
