The Chairwoman of the City Council Maria Grazia Grippo met with the President of the Cologne-Torino Twinning Association and several members for an institutional meeting.
Mayor Stefano Lo Russo travelled to Japan to take part in the celebrations marking the twentieth anniversary of the friendship between Torino and Nagoya. He also attended the week dedicated to the Piedmont Region at Expo 2025 in Osaka and the official inauguration of the new Tokyo headquarters of the Politecnico di Torino's Japan Hub.
The City of Torino participated in the Eurocities Forum in Brno https://eurocities.eu/, dedicated to the role of culture in urban development. Torino presented “Culture around the corner” and the Bibliobus network, examples of widespread and mobile culture at the service of communities.
A delegation from the City of Wenzhou, led by Mayors Zhang Wenjie and Yang Deting, attended an institutional meeting at the Metropolitan City, where they met with Mayor Stefano Lo Russo and several Mayors from the Torino metropolitan area, who have established relations with the Wenzhou diaspora.
The City of Torino participated in the project meeting in Krakow, sharing its experience in developing the Cascina Falchera gardens and discussing ongoing pilot projects with other cities.
As part of the European Cleverfood – Food2030 project, the City of Torino visited the Food Lab in Krakow to discuss food policies, food vulnerability and the circular economy, contributing to the definition of its own City Action Plan.
The Italian-Palestinian cooperation project Akli Baladi (“Eat Local”) has been launched. Following the event held on 22 September in Bra on date, oil and honey supply chains, organised by Slow Food as part of Cheese, Mayor Lo Russo opened the meeting on September 23, talking with around twenty delegations from Italian and Palestinian cities, universities and institutions.
The City of Torino participated in the project consortium meeting in Athens, sharing the results of circular economy experiments on textiles and electronic waste. The exchange with other cities provided an important opportunity for mutual learning.
Mayor Stefano Lo Russo welcomed the Indian Ambassador to Italy, Vani Rao, accompanied by the Indian Consul General in Milan, Lavanya Kumar, and the Consul for Community Affairs, Atul Chauhan. The meeting focused on industry and higher university education.
The Deputy Mayor for Urban Planning, Paolo Mazzoleni, met with a technical delegation from the City of Helsinki at Urban Lab. The delegation was visiting Torino for a series of meetings and site visits dedicated to urban regeneration issues.
Vice Mayor Michela Favaro welcomed Carlos Bezerra Junior, Councillor for the City of São Paulo, at the Civic Hall. The meeting paved the way for possible collaborations between Torino and Brazil on the increasingly important issue of housing policies and their social impact.
Mayor Stefano Lo Russo welcomed Roxana Minzatu, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Social Rights, Skills, Quality Jobs and Readiness. The meeting focused on the strategic role of training and skills development for the future of workers and European competitiveness.
A delegation from the Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) visited Torino ahead of the three-year Akli Baladi project, dedicated to local food policies between Italian and Palestinian cities, co-funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and implemented as part of the L.A.N.D. project of the Association of Municipalities for Sustainable Development FELCOS Umbria.
The Vice Mayor of Torino, Michela Favaro, welcomed a delegation led by the Vice Mayor of Al-Ahsa, Abdullah Al-Shahri, to the Torino City Hall. The delegation was interested in Torino’s best practices in urban innovation, infrastructure, tourism and waste management, with the aim of developing synergies, investments and transferring administrative practices to their own territory.
Torino City Lab represented CTE NEXT at Expo 2025 in Osaka, leading the panel discussion on “Smart Mobility, Responsive Cities”. Torino, together with Cagliari, Pesaro and Rome, presented experiments on autonomous vehicles, predictive AI and digital platforms for citizens, in a discussion with NTT Data and the City of Nagoya on the future of sustainable mobility.
